While relaxing between his owner’s legs during a TV session, Marshal became an impromptu stand for the remote. Marshal, a Dachshund featured on the Instagram account @marshal_the_sausagedog, was simply enjoying some time on the couch when he unexpectedly became useful to his owner. In the video, the pup is sitting comfortably between his human’s legs while the two watch television together.
At one point, Marshal’s owner places the TV remote on top of his head, seemingly after using it to change the channel. However, the pup does not seem to mind the remote resting on him at all. Instead of shaking his head, moving away, or giving his owner a questioning look, he remains exactly where he is and continues relaxing.
The Dachshund’s complete lack of reaction makes it look as though he has willingly accepted his latest household responsibility. Meanwhile, the owner pokes fun at the situation with an onscreen caption that reads, “Assigned a role he did not apply for.”
The post’s caption continues the joke, saying, “He has a name, a following, and his dignity. one of these is gone.” The playful comment suggests that while Marshal may have plenty of recognition and fans, his dignity took a temporary hit when he became a makeshift remote holder.
Viewers were quick to play along with the joke in the comments. One person wrote, “Bro took the assignment so seriously,” noting how still and composed Marshal remained throughout the moment. Another viewer apparently saw some logic in the situation. “If thats not a remote holder why is it remote holder shaped?,” they wrote.
