A brand-new bandana might not seem like much, but Luna reacts as though she has just been handed the greatest gift. In the video shared by @jsaraceno, one shelter dog waiting inside her kennel gets the sweetest surprise when a volunteer shows up carrying a bandana just for her. Luna can barely contain her excitement as Julie steps through the door. Yet somehow she still stands perfectly still when it’s time for her little makeover. Perhaps this is what is required for Luna, who desperately needs to catch the eye of visitors.

The video begins the moment Julie opens Luna’s kennel door. The shelter dog is already standing right behind it, so eager to say hello that Julie has to squeeze her way inside. The on-screen text explains that “Sometimes volunteering is putting a brand new bandana on a shelter dog named Luna so she looks pretty for potential adopters.”
With the camera resting on the floor, Julie removes Luna’s old, worn bandana. And then unfolds a bright new one covered in little pink smiley faces. Luna waits patiently through the whole thing, her tail wagging while she watches every move. At one point, she even flashes what looks like the happiest little grin.
As soon as the fresh bandana is tied around her neck, Julie beams, “Oh my gosh, you look so beautiful.” And then bends to hug the shelter dog. Luna’s response couldn’t be sweeter. She happily accepts a few chin scratches, then leans over and plants kisses all over Julie’s face, leaving her giggling.
The clip has already picked up more than 1,900 likes in just a few hours. Meanwhile, viewers are just as smitten with Luna. The sweet dog has now spent more than 100 days at the shelter without a single application. But watching her light up over something as simple as a fresh bandana shows that shelter dogs don’t need much to feel loved. Sometimes, a few kind words, a little extra attention, and someone showing up just for them can brighten an entire day — and hopefully help the right family notice them, too.
