Walking past rows of noisy animal enclosures often reveals heartbreaking moments that stay with visitors forever. A moving Instagram video by @circlecitypups shows how that heavy environment is seriously affecting a beautiful shelter dog named Nami. This poor pup spends her days curled up at the rear end of her enclosure, trembling as people pass by.

It would be easy to assume she’s shy all the time, but that’s only one small part of her story. According to the shelter, the moment Nami goes outside, a completely different dog begins to shine, reminding everyone that kennel life doesn’t always show a dog’s true personality.

Shelter dog trembles unable to understand kennel life

The video begins with Nami sitting as far back in her kennel as she can, shaking while watching the world from a distance. On-screen text explains that she doesn’t understand why she’s there and has already spent more than a month waiting for someone to choose her.

As the camera moves a little closer, Nami looks up with uncertain eyes. She never barks or paces. Instead, she stays tucked into her corner, visibly nervous while the adoption message appears across the screen. It’s a difficult sight to watch, especially knowing this isn’t how she behaves once she’s out of the kennel.

According to the shelter, Nami is actually a playful, social girl who loves having room to run around. She enjoys games of chase, happily greets people, and lights up when she gets the chance to stretch her legs.

After burning off some energy, she’s just as happy to slow down for cuddles, leaning into pets and especially enjoying a good butt scratch. Staff also describe her as easy to handle, affectionate, and responsive.

That contrast is exactly why posts like this matter. A video can capture the hardest part of a shelter dog’s day, while the caption helps fill in everything visitors might otherwise miss. With more than a month already behind her, Nami is still waiting for the family that will get to know and love the happy dog beyond the kennel door. Hopefully, that wait won’t last much longer.
