The first glimpse of Pumpkin is the kind that sits heavy in your chest. She is a tiny Dachshund, shaking in the front seat of a car, staring at her new owner like she fears what is to come.

Moreover, she enjoys a pup cup and then sleeps with no care in the world. She seems happy as she wags her tail and then even finds a boyfriend — another pup she plays with in the grass. It is as if she knows no one can hurt her now.
