Moms have a natural instinct that never really turns off. Milkshake is a deaf Pit Bull who proves that being a mom is a lifelong calling. This sweet rescue dog hates being even a foot away from her favorite tiny human in a viral video. James and Leah from @make.life.happen captured how she constantly sneaks closer for snuggles and body touch. Someone originally dumped her after she lost her own puppies in the past, but now she has claimed this baby as her own. She is finally experiencing the family life she always deserved.

Video shows rescue dog chooses to be close to baby as she’s a mom too

As we see and learn from the clip, Milkshake is naturally fidgety if she isn’t right in the middle of the action. She stares intently at her human and the camera until she can get as close to the baby as possible. This breed is famous for having a “nanny dog” instinct, which makes them incredibly protective of children.

James and Leah said they knew her love for the baby right away. The video shows her watching the newborn sleep in her bassinet when they first got her home. Milkshake’s expression is a mix of awe and wonder. In another shot, she even takes quiet and deliberate steps on the bed to get close to the baby who is sleeping on mom’s chest. This rescue dog truly treats the baby as her own daughter.

Deafness is something Milkshake has managed since birth. This actually makes her even more visually focused on her surroundings. She looks to her humans for a thumbs-up cue whenever she is close to the baby. Next, we see her resting her head on the child. She had once had a litter, and because she lost her previous puppies, she is not letting anything happen to this one.

The story gets even better because the family actually found one of Milkshake’s biological daughters. They are planning a 1400-mile road trip this summer to visit her. One viewer mentioned that this video shows Milkshake is a great mom through and through. Another person noted how precious it is that she gets to spend her life with her children.
