The video starts with the dog stretched out on a mat as the little girl and her dad play Doctor with him. Dad, dressed in scrubs with a stethoscope around his neck, goes full TV drama as he announces, “He’s seizing! He’s seizing! Push that peak!” while the toddler follows along, pressing a toy medical device against the dog’s belly.
Her dad then says, “Oh, he stopped seizing, thank goodness. What’s his blood pressure? Oh my goodness!” He pretends to check readings with a toy cuff, then hands another piece of the kit to his tiny assistant, saying, “Push that peak! Oh, we’re gonna strap him down to the breather.” Right then, the dog flips onto his back, offering his belly and staying put for the “breather” bit.
By the time dad calls out, “He’s stabilizing! Start antibiotics! Get a blood culture!” the little girl has collapsed into laughter beside her furry patient in the video, who continues enjoying the Doctor game.
Many dogs happily tolerate gentle handling when they feel safe and get to spend quality time with their loved ones. Besides, the praise and close contact can make this kind of pretend play feel like a game. This is especially true when it includes belly rubs and being the center of attention in the family.
