The clip, shared on Instagram by @thegermanpawsquad, features the family’s three dogs — Willow, Bubba, and Bear — taking part in what the owner calls “The Triplets Vs Eggs.” The premise is simple: each dog is given an egg and left to figure out what to do with it.
Bubba, a Rottweiler, is up first. From the moment the egg is placed in front of him, it’s clear he has no intention of handling it delicately. He quickly picks it up in his mouth and drops it onto the floor. When that doesn’t fully break it, he nudges, or “boops,” it repeatedly with his nose. Each tap grows more forceful until the shell finally gives way. Once the egg is smashed, Bubba lowers his head to sniff and inspect the contents, seemingly satisfied with the outcome.
Next comes Bear, a German Shepherd with a more investigative approach. Unlike Bubba, Bear pauses to examine the egg, sniffing it carefully as if trying to determine what it is. He then attempts to interact with it the way he might a toy, gently batting it as though it were a ball. The game doesn’t last long. A slightly heavier paw lands on the shell, cracking it open. His experiment ends with a broken egg beneath him.
Finally, Willow, another German Shepherd, steps in. She appears cautious from the start, staring at the egg and studying it before making a move. Willow gently picks it up in her mouth, holding it with surprising care. At one point she drops it, but the egg remains intact. Unlike her housemates, she doesn’t crush it but shows a noticeably softer touch.
The owner summed up the personalities on display. “Three puppies. Same time. No regrets. We gave them one egg. Willow studied it. Bear engineered it. Bubba declared war,” the caption read.
Viewers immediately took to the comments to point out the differences. One person wrote that they loved how distinct all three dogs were in handling the egg. Another joked that their own German Shepherd would likely swallow it whole. A third called it “a great experiment,” while someone else said Bubba’s chaotic approach was exactly what they expected.
