Kobe has barely been on the floor for a few seconds when Zana walks into the room and effortlessly jumps onto the couch. The 8-week-old German Shepherd watches closely from his spot, looking as though he has just discovered a brand-new trick worth learning.
The video from @kobe.theshepherd catches the moment the puppy decides he can do it too. He runs over, launches himself upward, and barely reaches the seat before landing flat on the carpet. Zana is already on the couch. Kobe is left to pretend that attempt never happened.

When the video begins, we see Kobe sitting on the living room floor with a chew bone in front of him. Then Zana walks into view. She jumps onto the couch without any trouble while Kobe watches her closely. The text on the video says he saw Zana do it once and “got way too confident,” which turns out to be a pretty accurate summary of what happens next.
He gets up and heads straight for the couch. Kobe takes his shot, but he is still very small. He barely gets his face onto the seat before slipping back down and landing on the carpet. It is a very enthusiastic attempt.
The comments loved every second of it. One person said, “You gotta respect the thought to execution time though.” Another joked that Kobe had forgotten to switch his ears from “flop to flight mode.” Someone else said he simply “didn’t properly calibrate for being smol.”
With more than 125,000 likes, this funny video of a puppy copying an older dog has gone understandbly viral.
Kobe’s reaction afterward may be even funnier than the jump itself. He simply sits down facing away from the camera and carries on as though nothing happened. That is the part that feels especially puppy-like.
An older dog does something once, and suddenly the puppy copies. The jump is attempted, the landing goes badly and the little German Shepherd is ready to move on with his day. At eight weeks old, Kobe clearly has plenty of confidence. But conquering the couch may need a little more practice, though.
