A withdrawn shelter pup named Veggito is breaking hearts in Mesa, Arizona, after Maricopa County Animal Care & Control shared his story on Instagram. The video shows him tucked away inside his space, trying to hide from people even though he clearly wants attention. His last adoption did not work out, according to the shelter, but outside his kennel, his personality starts to shine.

The video begins with Veggito pressed under his bed, almost disappearing behind it. The on-screen caption says, “Even though he wants so badly to be noticed.” It is a painful contrast because he does not look aggressive or uninterested. He looks unsure, overwhelmed, and nervous inside the busy shelter setting.

Another clip shows him partly tucked beneath the cot again. From a lower angle, only part of his face and body can be seen under the raised cushion. The caption from Maricopa Pets says his last adoption did not work out, and he has been withdrawn ever since. Still, the shelter added that his story is not over.

Once Veggito gets outside, the mood changes. He steps out from the cramped space, meets people, and starts to relax. One caption says, “He’s a completely different dog.” In another moment, he sits with a bright green toy in his mouth while people pet him. His soft eyes and loose expression make the change feel even more emotional. Maricopa Pets wrote that Veggito does well with people of all ages. However, he needs a home without small dogs. His adoption fee is $0 through August 31. The post lists him at 1920 S Lewis in Mesa with ID #A5165936.

Viewers quickly filled the comments with support. One person wrote, “Oh sweetheart.” Another added, “sweet angel. Someone go get him.” Others commented, “Oh my heart! Poor baby! May God send you the perfect home soon sweetie, you deserve better,” and “This poor boy, im hoping you get adopted soon cutie pie.”
