Trust is not something that can be rushed, especially for animals coming from difficult backgrounds. Rescue and foster dogs need time to adjust to new surroundings, and even the smallest signs of comfort can signal meaningful progress. A recent video shared on social media captured one such milestone.
Posted by foster mom Isabella, known on Instagram as @isabella.revilla, the clip shows her foster dog Nellie reaching a breakthrough. What appeared to be a simple cuddle was actually the first time the once-withdrawn pup voluntarily approached her foster mom for affection.

The Instagram reel begins with an ordinary scene at home. Isabella is sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee, scrolling through her phone and enjoying a quiet moment. Unbeknownst to her, a home camera is recording what would become one of the most meaningful milestones in Nellie’s foster journey.
The on-screen text explains that Nellie was a “formerly shut down” foster dog. Although Isabella did not share details about the dog’s past, the description suggests Nellie arrived in foster care carrying emotional scars that made it difficult for her to trust people. That made the events that followed all the more meaningful.
As Isabella sits on the couch, Nellie slowly approaches her before climbing up and settling beside her for a cuddle. The interaction appears completely unprompted. There are no treats, commands, or attempts to coax the dog closer. Instead, Nellie makes the choice herself, deciding to seek comfort from the person caring for her.
In the caption, Isabella revealed just how emotional the moment was for her. “Caught my foster dog coming home to me and cuddling for the first time on @furbopetcamera,” she wrote. “Tried VERY hard not to freak out but she still looked at me all confused.”
She went on to explain that Nellie has been showing more of her personality with each passing day. According to Isabella, the dog continues to reveal her “sweet, silly, and brave” side as she becomes more comfortable in her surroundings. “What an honor it is to be considered a safe space for her,” she added.
Viewers were touched by the video and flooded the comments section with supportive messages. One person wrote, “These are the moments that make it all worth it.” Another commenter said, “I’ll literally cry if this was me. omg this is so sweet.” Meanwhile, another user playfully admitted, “I have to beg my dog for love… I’m so jealous of you.”
